The Great Illuminating Tathāgata of the Holy Mountain Buddha Land
The Holy Birthday of the Great Illuminating Tathāgata coincides with the commemoration day of Guang Huan Mi Zong, forming an auspicious and extraordinary bond of light.

In various vacations, the compassionate Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi, has pointed out that all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas radiate light. The word “Guang” in “Guang Huan Mi Zong” means light, which originates from the Great Illuminating Tathāgata, making Guang Huan Mi Zong the Dharma of Light. The reason why the Esoteric Dharma of Guang Huan Mi Zong possess such immense power lies in its ability to channel the energy of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas at the speed of light—this is the essence of the Healing of Light.
The descent of light from above signifies divinity and salvation. In Chinese culture, expressions like “borrowing light” and “sharing light” symbolize good fortune and honor. The Buddha’s Light that Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi brings to sentient beings is invisible to the ordinary human eye, yet those with the celestial vision can see the powerful auras from Holy Master and the beams of light released during healing. These are manifestations of Holy Master’s extraordinary spiritual power.
The high-energy light from Buddhas and Bodhisattvas is the reason why the healing effects are described as “immediate and miraculous.” In numerous Dharma classes, I have personally witnessed countless wonders performed by Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi:
- My mother, who had suffered from recurring lumbar disc herniation for years and could not walk properly when it reoccurred, was able to walk more freely after Holy Master applied a Dharma implement to her.
- A government officer plagued by severe insomnia found himself sleeping like a baby after attending a Dharma class.
- A young man suffering from severe depression felt an unprecedented joy after listening to the Master’s teachings, finally discovering the direction of his life.
- A woman who had endured chronic migraines for over twenty years experienced complete relief through the Dharma practices at the class.

As the lyrics go, “There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in” (Leonard Cohen, Anthem). Who doesn’t need light?
Every individual has imperfections—illness, weaknesses, and ingrained afflictions. These are precisely the areas where light is meant to heal. Many who come to Guang Huan Mi Zong arrive with emotional wounds, physical ailments, or various health issues to differing degrees. Yet, as long as they follow Holy Master to learn the Dharma, they receive the healing from the Dharma of Light and experience rapid recovering in different degrees.
Holy Master Ziguang Shang Shi is a luminous being. Practitioners of Guang Huan Mi Zong, through dedicated esoteric cultivation, can also accumulate reserves of light energy, radiating warmth and illumination to others—guiding those lost in darkness toward the source of light and allowing them to receive its blessings.
As the majestic Hymn of Refuge resonates through the Grand Hall of Guan Yin Bodhisattva, my heart overflows with boundless gratitude for Holy Master and the Dharma Realm:
Where there is light, there is peace of mind;
Where the heart finds peace, there lies my true home.
